Shreyas Iyer Hospitalized After Fielding Injury

On October 25, 2025, during the third ODI between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground, India’s batter Shreyas Iyer suffered a lacerated spleen after a painful fall while catching Alex Carey.

According to the BCCI, Iyer sustained an impact injury to his left lower rib cage and was immediately taken to a Sydney hospital. Scans revealed a laceration to the spleen, but he remains medically stable and under observation.

He received treatment on the field and did not return to play. India won the match by nine wickets, though Australia had already claimed the series (2–1).

The team doctor stayed in Sydney to monitor his recovery, and his participation in the upcoming five-match T20 series in Canberra remains doubtful.
